About Laura
Laura Ganzel, LMSW
Clinical Social Worker
I'm a therapist because I know what it's like to feel stuck, confused, angry, or sad and not know why. We learn a lot in school, but not why we have emotions, how they show up in our body, or why our past experiences can show up in the present and make us feel frozen, scared, or helpless. I use what I've learned in school, training, research, and experience to help my clients plant their feet firmly on the ground, and then we work together to build the life that you want to live.
I graduated from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor School of Social Work with my LLMSW, focusing on Interpersonal Practice & Mental Health in December 2017. Since then, I have received training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Somatic and Attachment Focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (SAFE EMDR), as well as exposure to Parts Work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Parent-Management Training of Oregon (PMTO), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
I have experience working with children, teens, and their families/guardians. Together we have tackled depression, anxiety, trauma (and somatic symptoms of trauma), LGBTQ+ issues, self-harm, and suicidal ideation.
