Jennifer Heckendorn, LMSW

Owner, Clinical Social Worker

Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to get into a career path that would make a difference in people’s lives.  As a licensed Therapist in the greater Ann Arbor area, I am committed to the well-being of all my patients and go above and beyond to address their needs.

Through my education as a geriatric social worker along with my experience in long term care, hospice and outreach therapy, I have the training and skills necessary to provide extra support and guidance through a challenging situation.

Our approach is to provide support, meet clients where they are, and to address personal life challenges.  We work with each individual to help build on strengths and attain personal growth.
I truly care for all of my clients, and work diligently to help find them the answers they seek. Since 2007, I have worked with a variety of patients dealing with circumstances that are unique to their lives.

With genuine concern for alleviating the distress of my clients, I provide state-of-the-art interventions specific to their needs.

I have worked with diverse populations, ranging from autistic children, and adolescents with eating disorders, to those suffering from severe anxiety, depressive disorders, and people struggling to overcome addictions, for example. In this process I utilize effective therapies, including:  Applied Behavior Analysis, CBT, Mindfulness, EFT, Psychodynamic and family systems. With my breadth of clinical experience, I successfully treat varied and complex problems, both individually and relationally.

My specialties include working with children, adults and couples, and those who may be struggling with issues of anxiety, depression, parenting, relational problems, and improving their marriage or partnerships.

I am compassionate and empathetic and strive to create a safe environment in therapy, conducive to honest self-examination and healing. I believe everyone has the capacity for personal growth, healing and change. Within the context of therapy, you can feel secure to explore difficult feelings, experiences and life problems, to work toward the goal of healing, improving relationships, and ultimately living a happier and healthier life.
