My practice is focused on the needs of aging individuals and the family members/friends who provide care and support for them. Life transitions, grief and loss associated with changes in physical and mental health are issues that I specialize in as well as depression and anxiety in adults of all ages.
I am a solution focused therapist who uses cognitive behavioral techniques to help alleviate negative thought patterns and behaviors that exacerbate depression and anxiety.
Through my education as a geriatric social worker along with my experience in long term care, hospice and outreach therapy, I have the training and skills necessary to provide extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or to assist you find a new path for your life. The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.
- Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
- If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.
